The lophophora specie is divided by botanists in 2 main categories, williamsii and diffusa. I would say that most of botanists and peyote  collectors will agree on that while they disagree on many other points .
Diffusa have a beautiful white flower, they grow faster than williamsii, and their mescaline level is lower, they contains another alcaloid named pellotine.
